Mary & The Redemption of Eve

“And he came to her and said, Hail, O favored one [endued with grace]! The Lord is with you! Blessed (favored of God) are you before all other women!” -Luke‬ ‭1:28

In Mary we see the redemption of the Eve ‬narrative. The new creation woman says yes to the word of God. The fruit of her womb is the edenic tree of life. The promised garden of Divine communion restored, the serpent conquered and the gates of paradise reopened. The sacredness of womanhood reclaimed by the enveloping incarnation of the Son of God. The womb of Mary births the brother whose death at the hands of his brothers will not cry out judgment but salvation. It is good to be marking international women’s Day here among catholic monks who have a special place of holy adoration for a favored woman full of grace.

I too thank God for the gift of grace I’ve been given in my wife…a daughter of Eve, a sister of Mary…a woman of God.
